HWBC appoints new Managing Director
HWBC have announced the appointment of Michael Coyle as new Managing Director with effect from June 1st 2008. His appointment follows the completion of a highly successful three year term by Michael Harrington who has held that position since the firm’s inception in 2005.
Michael Coyle who qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1978 is one of the founding directors of HWBC. He has headed the firm’s highly successful Professional Services team which specialises in the negotiation of rent reviews, mainly those relating to major retail and office premises. He is perhaps best known within the industry in his capacity as a highly respected and sought after arbitrator and independent expert.
Michael says “I am delighted to take on this role from Michael Harrington who has driven this business forward since our inception in 2005. During this period HWBC turnover has more than doubled, staff numbers have increased by over a third and we have successfully expanded the range of services on offer to clients. This level of growth and success has been significant and has been achieved across all divisions. The creation in early 2007 of our new marketing department has added an extra dimension to our operations and our expansion into overseas investments is now also paying dividends, having accounted for 25% of our turnover in 2007. My key focus will be to continue to drive the existing business forward and also explore opportunities to further grow our range of services and client base.”
Three senior appointments at Savills Hamilton Osborne King
The Property Management Division at Savills Hamilton Osborne King sees further expansion with two key senior appointments. Helen Moore has been appointed Director, Property Management and Glenn Cran has been appointed Associate within the Division. A third senior appointment has been made within the firm as Jonathan Preston has been promoted to Head of Retail Warehousing.
The Property Management Division is now the largest department within Savills Hamilton Osborne King with 36 staff. The department has grown quickly in recent years in order to service the large number of properties in its portfolio including three of the biggest shopping centres in the country – Liffey Valley, Victoria Square and Mahon Point – as well as retail parks and office developments. The portfolio of properties under management is valued at €6 billion with an annual rent roll in excess of €200 million and an annual service charge expenditure of €60 million.
Helen Moore joined Savills Hamilton Osborne King 14 years ago and was appointed Director in 2005. In her new role in Property Management she will have responsibility for strategy and business development. For the past 11 years Helen has been working in the New Homes Division advising clients on the development, marketing and sales of new housing schemes. Her clients have included some of the country’s top property developers such as Park Developments, Capel Developments and O’Malley Homes & Development.
Glenn Cran has joined the Property Management Division from Savills in London. Glenn will focus on the management of commercial property including individual retail units, shopping centres and offices with an emphasis on improving asset value. Prior to joining Savills Hamilton Osborne King in Dublin, Glenn spent two years at Savills Development Consultancy team in London advising on development master plans and regeneration sites. Glenn previously worked in the Real Estate Consulting division of Ernst & Young, London, focusing on Facilities Management Outsourcing advisory.
Jonathan Preston has been appointed Head of Retail Warehousing at Savills Hamilton Osborne King. Jonathan has been an Associate at Savills Hamilton Osborne King since 2007, he has been working in the Development Land Division since 2004 specialising in the sale and acquisition of residential and commercial development sites throughout Ireland. Along with heading up Retail Warehousing he will also take responsibility for sales and leasing within the Retail Division, which will include advising on the company’s main instructions.

New managing director appointed to McInerney Homes Ireland
McInerney Holdings plc today announced the appointment of John Crowley as Managing Director of its Irish homebuilding division McInerney Homes (Irl) Ltd. Mr. Crowley, who has worked with the company since 1991, will be moving into his new role from his position as Regional Director, South Region. He will be responsible for the house building and contracting businesses’ growth strategy in Ireland and the management of existing operations which span some 30 sites.
Mr Crowley replaces Mr Tommy Drumm, who previously held the position. Mr Drumm was appointed Group Operations Director for McInerney Homes and Contracting Ltd in Ireland & UK, with McInerney Holdings plc last year.
Mr Crowley, a civil engineer, held a number of management positions during his career with the company before being appointed Regional Director in 2002.
Mr Crowley graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from University College Cork (UCC). He joined a consulting engineering firm in Cork as a graduate before moving to the UK to work as a Civil Engineer for four years. He returned to Ireland in 1991 to begin his career with McInerney.

Two new Divisional Directors appointed at Lisney
Ann Marie joined Lisney in November 2004 having become a full member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors in October 2004. A graduate of Limerick Institute of Technology (BSc in property Valuation and Management), Ann Marie’s work focus includes acquisition and disposal of commercial property investments in the domestic market, investment appraisals and valuations.
Brian Donohoe will join Alan Taylor in working in the Development Services Department at Lisney. Brian will have particular responsibility for liaising with clients and providing development advice on projects at a pre-planning and pre-construction stage. He will have a particular focus on retail projects. Brian is a Chartered Surveyor and joined Lisney in 2004 where he has worked primarily in the Commercial Agency department to date.

Savills Hamilton Osborne King makes nine senior appointments
Leading commercial and residential property agent Savills Hamilton Osborne King has made nine senior appointments to the firm. Gavin Butler has been promoted to Director in the Industrial division and eight new Associates have been appointed – Gemma Ryan – New Homes, Alex Dunne – Professional Services, Michael Healy – Offices, Stephen McCarthy – Retail, Aidan Reynolds – Professional Services, Glenn Crann – Property Management, Denis O’Donoghue – Cork and Julie Boyd – Belfast.Gavin Butler joined Savills Hamilton Osborne King in 1996 and was appointed Associate in 2001. Gavin heads up the Industrial Division which specialises in all aspects of the industrial market including the sale, acquisition and letting of industrial buildings together with design and development advice and marketing. Gavin has worked closely with a number of Dublin’s leading industrial developers including Park Developments, Green Property, Woodford Developments and Rohan Holdings. Last year the team secured sales of over €40 million for Park Developments at Northwest and Northern Cross Business Parks in Ballycoolin and Finglas respectively. On behalf of Rohan Holdings sales of excess €23 million were achieved at NorthCity Business Park also in Finglas. The team also handled the two largest industrial lettings in Dublin in 2007 – namely the letting of a 12,000 sq.m. high bay facility in Northwest Business Park for €1.35 million per annum and assigned a 10,000 sq.m. facility in Parkwest at an annual rent of €865,000.

Further to this, CB Richard Ellis was for the second time listed in the Top 10 Companies in Ireland and actually named the ‘Best company to work for in Ireland’ in the 100 to 250 employee number category.
